I created this simple wooden material for my students during our texturing course at The Game Assembly.
The goal here was to make a simple wood material with lots of potential for variation and iteration. A good starting point for any type of wood. Something that I could have my students at The Game Assembly replicate with good results and as few confusing elements as possible. A clean no fuss graph easy to follow.
Then either by exposing parameters in the material itself or build a shader around it in an engine get lots of variations.
Referencing the simple wood material into another graph with a floor pattern or similar gives even more room for ideas and variations.
Sidenote: Some of the graph work have been made with visibility in mind for the students rather than reusing the same instanced nodes.
This way we might have some duplicate nodes and a clean flow rather than a more cluttered graph network.
